Decrease in Volunteers Results in Drastic Wait Time for Big Brother Program

Vancouver, BC, February 27, 2014 – The Scotiabank Bowl for Big Brothers Classic is taking place March through April at Lower Mainland bowling centres. Raising funds to help local at-risk children, the event is an excellent opportunity for the community to have a good time while making a difference. Corporate, family and friend teams are encouraged to sign up for this fun focused non-competitive event.

Celebrating the event’s 35th anniversary, Big Brothers is adopting a REWIND theme, asking participants to attend events dressed in costumes from their favorite past 35 themes, including Hollywood, Mardi Gras and space just to name a few.

Last year’s event raised enough to help Big Brothers match 367 children with mentors. Those interested in helping Big Brothers exceed that accomplishment are encouraged to visit our even website.

About Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver helps boys aged 7 – 14 who have limited to no contact with their fathers and are, as a result, considered at-risk to not reach their full potential. Matching them with positive adult male role models, the charity sees compelling impacts on boys who develop more confidence, perform better academically and are less likely to succumb to peer pressure. One in four local children is raised without an active father.
