Volunteer This New Year

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver is encouraging everyone to start the New Year right!

Another year is about to tick over, with a new one waiting just over the horizon.  Many people will be thinking about how to make next year better than this year, and will probably make a new year’s resolution or 2.  This New Year, become a Big Brother or an In-School Big Buddy, make a difference within your community and have fun doing it! Give a little and get a lot back this new year!

Research shows 67% of people actually make 3 or more resolutions, and volunteering is the 10th top New Year’s Resolutions. Volunteering could help you reach many popular resolutions.  As recent study shows it can have a positive effect on your health, particularly in beating obesity, stress and cutting down on smoking.  It’s not just about the satisfaction of time and effort well spent.  Volunteering can be a great way to challenge yourself, learn new skills and gain useful experience.

Give of yourself this year and make a new year’s resolution to volunteer.  People who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to achieve their goals than people who don’t have any New Year resolutions.  Volunteering makes you feel good about what you do and instills pride in yourself and your community.

May this year be the year that your goals and dreams manifest with ease and joy!
