Spring Cleaning Pays Off at IKEA
Besides cleaning out your closet, you can also help a charity, be environmentally responsible and get a great deal at IKEA all at the same time. On May 30 and 31, the IKEA stores in Coquitlam and Richmond will be offering coupons for $30 off a minimum purchase of $150 to the first 150 people who bring two garbage bags of reusable clothing for Big Brothers at store opening.
Approximately 1/3 of our funds raised come from donated clothing and items. This being IKEA’s third year of involvement in this event, they understand the importance of supporting local charities within their community.
“We rely on our partnerships to help us generate the funds we need to operate our programs for children in our community,” explains Valerie Lambert, Executive Director for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver. “IKEA is a socially and environmentally responsible company and have been a great fit for us as a charity. We’re looking forward to great success with this event.”
The event couldn’t come at a better time with spring time here and closets overflowing. With many people looking for different ways to give instead of just monetarily, giving reusable clothing makes a lot of sense.
Past events have had line-ups of over 100 people up to an hour before store opening. Coupons are only valid in store the two days of the event. For full event details, go to your local store homepage at www.IKEA.ca. Clothing from men, women and children are accepted.

Big Brothers Clothing Donation collects used clothing and household items. The profit from the sale of donated items benefits Big Brothers’ mentoring programs by providing funding for volunteer recruitment, screening and training, as well as monitoring of friendships.
