COBS Bread Raises $50,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada

Each Spring, COBS Bread hosts a joint promotional campaign to raise funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. This year they created a delicious Strawberries & Cream scone for the campaign, and on May 12 & 13, 50 cents from EVERY scone sold at COBS Bread locations across Canada was donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies. +Read More

BC Lions Share is Back!

The BC Lions home opener at the new BC Place is fast approaching.  On Friday, June 29th, our BC Lions will play Winnipeg Bluebombers, which will double as a fundraiser for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.

Wii Bowling in the Sea to Sky Raises $30,000 for Kids

Benefiting mentoring programs run by our satellite agency, Big Brothers Big Sisters Sea to Sky Corridor, The 2012 Scotiabank Wii Bowl for Big Brothers Big Sisters Classic will took place on April 21st at Brennan Park. The event raised an incredible $30,000. A very BIG thank you to the sponors, donors and participants for supporting the campaign and our cause.

Two events, one at 2pm for families and the other at 6pm for adults (19+), housed some 200 Wii bowlers, who raised pledges to support at-risk kids in the community.

The CW Bank Greater Interest GIC Fundraising Campaign

Throughout September and October, for every dollar customers invest in The Greater Interest GIC®, Canadian Western Bank will make a donation of 1/8% to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters agencies in the community in which the deposits were made. There are seven Canadian Western Bank branches in the Lower Mainland that will be raising money. In fact, CW Bank has raised over $44,000 for mentoring programs locally with this campaign in past years and expects this number to grow substantially with the 2011 campaign. +more

Invesco Trimark, a friend of Big Brothers Big Sisters and a proud sponsor of the Odlum Brown VanOpen donated ten tickets to Big and Little Brothers to attend this exciting annual event. In addition, on Wednesday, August 3rd, every time a player aced a serve during any game, $5 was donated to Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.  The day’s games ended with a cheque presentation for $500 to Big Brothers.  Thank you, Invesco Trimark!  +photo

On July 15th, Teligence held its annual Summer Social event at Stanley Park.  Despite the unusually cool summer weather, Teligence employees and their families still came out to enjoy a fun filled afternoon and raised just over $900 for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.

Burnaby RCMP Officers Are Giving Back To The Community
March 14 -On behalf of The RCMP Foudation, Chief Supt. Rick Taylor of the Burnaby RCMP presented Program Director Joanne Kautz-Allard and Executive Director Valerie Lambert with a $3,000 grant cheque from the RCMP Foundation. The money will be used to help support an In-School mentoring program partnership with RCMP detachments in Burnaby, Surrey, UBC and Coquitlam.

Big Brothers Thanks Community Supporters
Lower Mainland Canadian Western Bank branches  recently donated $8,875.  The funds were raised during the bank's Greater Interest GIC® campaign held in all branches September - October 2010. Mackenzie Financial donated $20,000 toward expanding the Teen Mentoring Program in Surrey. The program allows the teens and children involved to develop leadership skills and gain self confidence.  Ten Thousand Villages donated 10% of their sale on December 15th. +read more
