2009 Campaign Ideas
BIG Ideas Like Lake Superior!
Some companies really think BIG when participating in The 2010 Scotiabank Bowl for Big Brothers Classic. What better way to have fun with co-workers AND help kids?
Team Building
- Some teams dressed up in teams. For example, one Starbucks location built a rocket ship and filed themselves in like the crew!
- A few companies offered internal prizes to top fundraisers
- Lots of companies utilized the event to socialize and get to know eachother outside of work by going for dinner before or after
Challenges
- Some teams created some in-team rivalry by instigating fundraising challenges with co-workers
- Companies with various departments participating instigated fundraising challenges between departments
- A few companies with numerous locations bowling had challenges to see which location could sign up more bowlers
Fundraising
Everyone has their own method. The point is to be creative. Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP did just that by holding a concert the evening of March 6th. Held at Heritage Hall on Main Street, the concert featured Rhythm Method, a Vancouver based band which played a mixed blend of funk, soul and R&B. The crowd of some 160 also enjoyed the improv comedy of Ryan Beil and Kevin Lee. Pledges were collected throughout the evening and funds were also raised through a silent auction and 50/50 draw.
Blakes’ team bowls because it’s a team effort which allows everyone to participate. Company Co-Captains Ryan Goodman and Tiffany Hambrook felt the concert would be a great way to further bring people together in support of Big Brothers and to increase awareness about the mentoring movement.
Bill Maclagan, the Vancouver office Managing Partner at Blakes, noted, "The concert was a ton of fun and a huge success and we're thrilled that Blakes was able to help Big Brothers in their 2009 Bowl for Big Brothers campaign." Blakes plan to make the event an annual one.
