Our Vancouver affiliate hit the airwaves as CTV British Columbia on September 1, 2001, bringing the reputation of the most trusted and respected news organization in Canada and the top-notch programming that has made CTV a favourite of audiences. Veteran news anchors Bill Good and Pamela Martin lead the team as the CTV NEWS AT SIX anchors on CTV's Vancouver affiliate.

CTV British Columbia is B.C.’s leader for live news coverage with the largest fleet of live trucks in the province. Now with the addition of Chopper 9, Western Canada’s first and only live news chopper, CTV has changed the face of newsgathering in British Columbia. Combine their superior live capability with a driven team of reporters, it is no surprise CTV News at Six has seen a 32% increase year to year in adult viewers, ages 25-54.

CTV News has been honoured with awards from a number of organizations, including the Canadian Association of Journalists, the BC chapter of the RTNDA, and the Leo Awards (which celebrate excellence in British Columbia television and film). CTV also took home the 2004 and 2003 Excellence In News Reporting/Television Award from the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters (BCAB) and the 2004 and 2003 regional RTNDA awards for Breaking News Coverage.

The station has been recognized for its excellence in other areas as well. Vicki Gabereau is a multiple Leo Award winner and Gemini nominee for best talk show host, and her daytime show VICKI GABEREAU has captured Leos for the past four years in a row as best talk show.

CTV’s Western Independent Production office has also developed excellent programs like Corner Gas, Robson Arms and Cold Squad.

CTV British Columbia continues to grow in strength, adding depth to its newscasts with consumer reporting Olsen on Your Side and health-care issues with Dr. Rhonda Low. The stations presence in the community is evident —most notably live news broadcasts from the Canada Day celebrations and every day of the Pacific National Exhibition.
